Our History
From 1945 to 1964
Eduardo Martínez Cosentino and Eduarda Justo
Cosentino’s origins go back to a small village in southern Spain, Macael, and a modest family marble manufacturing company founded by Italian immigrants in 1945. The founders of this small workshop were Eduardo Cosentino and Eduarda Justo. Little could they have imagined that this would be the seed of the multinational company we know today.
The family business grows and the company moves to a larger workshop on the banks of the Macael stream.
Over the years, appropriate machinery was incorporated for the processing of marble: sawing looms, water cutting discs, decanters… Production was increasing and was mainly destined for Catalonia, where the commercial work was carried out.
From 1965 to 1974
Purchase of the first marble quarry in Macael
Thanks to the effort and expansion of the business, in 1965 the first marble quarry in Macael was purchased, called “Perro muerto”, which, due to the difficulties of the moment, led to the first ruin of the business.
From 1965 to 1974
Recovery and second quarry
The family’s economic recovery prompted the purchase of a second quarry, ‘La de los Hoyos’, which was crucial for the growth of the company and the integration of the sons into the family business.
