Introduction

 

This seminar is designed to give you the crisis management skills and information to survive in one of the areas of law which gives rise to the most disputes. Understand the key components of contractual mechanisms for the treatment of latent site conditions, what can be done in various circumstances, how to approach contracting around latent conditions and when alarm bells should be ringing for professionals. 

 


 

Biography

 

 

Jim Doyle is the Director of Doyles Construction Lawyers, established in 1991. Doyles Construction Lawyers acts for all construction industry participants including principals, authorities, contractors, subcontractors, suppliers and professionals. Doyles Construction Lawyers represent parties at all stages of project development, from planning, tendering, design and construction to project delivery and conflict resolution

 

Jim’s commercial multidisciplinary approach is a result of his combined qualifications in Economics (Econometrics and Urban Economics), Engineering (he is a Chartered Professional Engineer with The Institution of Engineers Australia) and Law. Jim is admitted to the State Supreme Courts and the High Court and is an accredited mediator and Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.

He has extensive local experience in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, and Western Australian jurisdictions in litigation and arbitration, as well as experience in international mediation and arbitration.

 

Before qualifying as a lawyer, Jim worked in civil engineering construction and design of roads, infrastructure and major housing estates and as a transport engineer/economist on the feasibility and cost/benefit analysis of major transport initiatives in Victoria.

 

Jim has extensive experience in all sectors of the construction industry in contract documentation, contract administration and project delivery. His legal advice allows participants to understand their rights and obligations, and to contribute effectively to efficient and beneficial project solutions. Jim has been responsible for the project and contract documentation for many high-end developments, including major shopping centres in both Queensland and South Australia, and various Government and private investor projects in New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria.
