3:00 pm – Introduction To CLT Building Methodology

CLT is a highly accurate prefabricated structural solution with excellent environmental credentials. The product has a very high strength to weight ratio and offers a much faster and safer construction method than traditional steel and concrete alternatives. The CLT building system provides a number of economic benefits such as speed of construction, decreased structural weight and foundation costs, reduced onsite building waste, building operation efficiencies, as well as lower environmental and health costs.

Through this presentation, attendees will be provided with the first steps of understanding how to realise the benefits of CLT construction methodologies.

At the end of this presentation attendees will be able to understand:

  1. Identify applications for construction utilising CLT
  2. Identify some of the key advantages and benefits achieved when utilising CLT
  3. Gain a preliminary understanding of the code compliance pathways for designing and building with CLT

4:00 pm – Innovative Solutions for Mass Timber Construction

In the last decade, increased demand for mass timber structures has driven rapid advancements in construction technology. The use of better performing structural screws and connection, waterproof and airtightness and acoustic solutions are becoming a key consideration to design and construct Mass Timber structures using engineered wood products.

by Engr. Sebastian James

Unlike conventional materials, timber construction presents unique challenges, and this webinar will provide alternative solutions, best practices and recommended products for how to overcome them.

At the end of the presentation, attendees will be able to

  1. Understand the pros and cons of different available types of structural connections in Mass Timber construction.
  2. Have a clear understanding of how to effectively protect timber members as part of a moisture management plan.
  3. Consider products and solutions to improve acoustics performance in Mass Timber buildings.
