This presentation will highlight the importance of materials selection on indoor air quality. Sighting peer reviewed research to identify both the potential risks of poor selections against proven materials that can provide long term health and wellbeing outcomes. Japanese timber species have inherent properties that can improve air quality and lower blood pressure, coupled with this natural, sustainable coatings create a beautiful look with no toxic chemicals. The presentation will provide examples of design applications in residential homes, commercial buildings and public spaces.

 

The presentation also provides a brief history into one of the oldest sustainable forestry’s in the world.

 

 

At the end of the presentation attendees will be able to understand; 

    • Have an understanding on the history of the Japanese forestry system
    • Understand the impact of poor indoor air quality, in health and monetary terms
    • Gain knowledge of the proven health benefits of designing with Japanese timber species and natural coating products.
